Here is your FIELD DAY CHECKLIST:

• Apply sunscreen at home before leaving for school.
• Apply bug repellent if you are sensitive to critter bites. You will be spending some time in the grassy areas.
• Wear a hat (baseball caps permitted on Field Day) and sunglasses if you wish.
• Wear comfortable athletic shoes.
• Wear cool, comfortable clothing and colors.
• Remember your sack lunch unless you have pre-ordered a sack lunch from the cafeteria.
• Remember to wear your Field Day T-Shirt!!!
• Most of all HAVE FUN!!!

Water and a snack will be provided by the PTA; but, if you wish to carry your own water bottle with you, you may. Be sure to put your name on it and take it from station to station.

FOR ALL OF THE AWESOME VOLUNTEERS, all of the above applies to you too. Also, if the back parking lot fills up, please use the overflow parking at the church next door. If you are volunteering for the entire day you will be served lunch by the PTA.

If it RAINS on Friday - Field Day will be postponed to Monday, May 19th; everything else will remain the same.

  • All day 8-2:30 (includes set up, games, lunch provided, and clean up)
  • AM only 8-11 (includes set up, games, lunch on their own)
  • PM only 11:45-2:30 (games, clean up)

Monday, May 12:

• Book Club for grades 3-5 in the library, 2:45-3:45pm. Please send a snack for your child and a note for his teacher.

Tuesday, May 13:

• 5th Grade TAKS Math retest
• 3rd Grade Field Trip
• 4th Grade Field Trip

Wednesday, May 14:

• Author visit for grades K-3

Thursday, May 15:

• Volunteer Appreciation event, 1:30 - 2:30p.m., in the library. Please RSVP to Mrs. Christy Smith, second grade teacher, by email, if you have not done so already.
• 2008-2009 Kindergarten parent meeting, 6:30-7:30 p.m., in the Kindergarten Hall.

• Spirit Day

Tuesday, May 6:

• 2nd Grade field trip to the Outdoor Learning Center
• PTA Board Installation Luncheon at Gleneagles Country Club, 11:00 a.m.
• PTA Spanish Program in the library, 2:45-4:00 p.m.
• Eat at Chick-fil-A today and you might WIN A BICYCLE!!!! Tonight is Barksdale’s last Spirit Night of the 07-08 school year at Chick-fil-A. To celebrate, one student will win the GRAND PRIZE – a brand new bicycle! The winner will be drawn randomly by the Chick-fil-A manager from all receipts submitted on May 6. It’s a win-win opportunity – you don’t have to cook AND you raise money for programs at your child’s school. What’s not to love? Remember to write your child’s name, grade and teacher on the back of your receipt and place it in the box to be eligible for the prize drawing. We look forward to seeing you there!

Barksdale’s 5th Grade Students need old CD’s or DVD’s to use as part of a 5th grade graduation project! They need not be functional as they will be used as supplies for crafts and decorations for the end of year party.

If you have any to donate, please send them to school with your child and put them in the “CD DROP BOX” at the hallway entrance to each grade level.
