“Country Fair - Barksdale Barbeque, Carnival, & Silent Auction” is coming on Saturday, November 3, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. This is the first and biggest event at Barksdale. Lots of games, food, and fun are waiting for you. Come and spend time with your fellow Barksdale families for an afternoon of festivities.
In an effort to raise funds, the 5th Grade Class will sell poinsettias beginning October 22, and will continue to accept orders until November 5. The money raised will be used to help paying for graduation and end-of-year celebrations.
These healthy and beautiful poinsettias come in six-inch pots and are packed 6 to a case. The are available in Red, Pink, and White flowers with 4 to 6 blooms on each. They are very fresh when delivered.
The plants will be delivered to the school for you to pick up on Monday, December 3, from 2 to 6 p.m.

The whole school is excited about our upcoming Book Fair. Each child will visit the Fair with his or her class, and will have the opportunity to purchase books.
Mark your calendar for our Family Event where you can shop, join in activities, and enjoy refreshments. And, you can select books for your child’s teacher to help build their classroom library.

It’s time once again to get creative and submit your entry for the Barksdale Yearbook Cover Contest! All entries must e received by October 23. The committee will be accepting entries for a front and back cover. The contest is open to all grades and the guidelines are as follows:

National PTA believes all children deserve a quality arts education and encourages students to pursue artistic expression through participation in its annual arts Reflections Program. The program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. Students in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit works of art in four areas: literature, musical composition, photography, and the visual arts (which includes art forms such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage).
2008 Reflections Program Theme: “I can make a difference by…” Students participate in the Reflections Program by submitting entries to their local PTA. Please join us in the Barksdale library on Tuesday, October 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a brown bag lunch with our principal. Mrs. Murray will share her background and then talk about Barksdale and the 2007-08 school year.
