Tuesday, October 9:

• PTA Brown Bag Lunch featuring our Principal, Pam Murray, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Barksdale library: Mrs. Murray will share her background and talk about the 2007-2008 school year. There will be some time at the end for questions and answers. If you have a question for Mrs. Murray, please e-mail it to her before the meeting so she can gather the information necessary to answer it. Her e-mail is pam.murray@pisd.edu.
• Spanish Program 2:45-4:00: Please send a note for your child’s teacher and a snack for your child.
• Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A: A percentage of your purchase tonight is returned to Barksdale, so forget cooking – join us at Chick-fil-A and help our school too! Remember to write your child’s name and teacher on your receipt and put it in the box (or leave with the drive thru attendant) to be entered into the drawing for prizes.

Wednesday, October 10:

• 5th Grade Parent Lunch: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Open House) at the home of Katherine Tolsch - 6325 Glenhollow Drive. Please call (972) 608-8910 with questions. Please join us for lunch and to learn all the “scoop” about 5th grade parties and events. This will also be your chance to volunteer for events.
• 5th grade T-shirt orders are due: Please return the order form to your teacher, or you can bring your order form to the 5th grade Parent Lunch today. If you have any questions, please contact Karis Armstrong or (972) 378-5800 for more information.

~ Monday, October 15 is the last day for Sally Foster sales to be turned in. Please make your best effort this week. If the school meets its fundraising goal, our kids get a special morning snack AND extra recess time. Thanks for your participation!

~ This is the last weekend to work on your entry for the Reflections contest. The deadline is Friday, October 19. Please contact Reshma Pattabi, Reflections Chairman by email or by calling (972) 608-2649 with questions.

~ Mark your calendars - The Red Ribbon Rally is Tuesday, October 23rd!!! There will be fresh coffee at 7:00 a.m. and the rally will begin at 7:15 sharp! Pull out the hair dye for crazy hair day and start working on those awesome posters for the contest. There will be lots of prizes!!! If you would like a chance to volunteer for this fantastic event please contact Monica Rooker by email or by calling (972) 370-3535.

~ Our October Outreach program supports our country’s military families. The Operation Once in a Lifetime Foundation needs new or gently used toys, clothes and household items. You may leave your contribution in the trunk outside the office. This is a very worthwhile cause, please give generously! Please contact Shannon Burleson, Outreach Chairman for more information.
