This Week at Barksdale: October 29 - November 4

Monday, October 29:

  • It’s Book Fair Week! The Barksdale Library will be a blizzard of books from Monday, October 29, through Friday, November 2. Items are available for book lovers of all ages and, best of all, a portion of your purchase will come back to Barksdale to support PTA programs. Start your holiday shopping early and help the school too!
  • Geography Posters Due
  • 5th Grade Camp Counselor Meeting – 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, October 30:

  • Pre-Purchase Ticket Forms and Cookie/Cake Donations Due: Avoid waiting in line – be the first to start having fun and bid on all the fabulous treats at the Country Fair - Barksdale Barbeque, Carnival, & Silent Auction! Please complete and return you pre-purchased ticket forms today. Your tickets will be sent home with your children on November 1 and November 2.
  • History Fair Posters Due
  • Book Fair Pajama Party, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the library: Wear your favorite pajamas and enjoy readings and entertainment from some of your favorite Barksdale personalities. It’s also a great time to browse the Fair with your child. Everyone is welcome!

  • Pumpkin Math for 1st Grade

Thursday, November 1:

  • Thursday and Friday - Candy Donations: Don’t know what to do with your leftover Halloween candy? Please bring your unopened bags/unopened candy to the school and place them in the “Candy Booth” Container. It will be used for prizes at the Country Fair.
  • Classroom Wreaths and Baskets delivery: Thank you for contributing to your classroom wreaths and baskets. The classroom themed wreaths and baskets are due on Thursday, November 1. Please drop them off in the carpool lines in the morning and afternoon or at the school between 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the P.T.A. workroom. Please tag your wreath and basket with the classroom teacher’s name and grade level. A list of the items in the basket and a general idea of the value of the basket donation should accompany your basket. We will also need to know the minimum bid amount for your basket. It is very important that all baskets be securely wrapped. We don’t want items misplaced at the event.

Friday, November 2:

  • Spirit Day
  • Teacher Treats
  • Report Cards for Grades 3 – 5
  • Cakes, Cupcakes, Doughnuts, and Cookies delivery: As of Thursday, October 25, we have 16 cookie/cake contribution sheets returned. The Cake/Cookie Walk will last 30 minutes. Please bring your cake(s), cupcake(s), doughnuts, or cookies, to the PTA workroom on Friday, November 2 between 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. There will also be volunteers collecting these items in the carpool lines in the morning and afternoon. Due to the City of Plano regulations, we will not be able to accept any cakes that need refrigeration, like cakes with cream or custard filling or cheesecakes. Also, ALL items must be securely covered. Your baked items will be left unattended on Friday night.

Saturday, November 3:

  • Country Fair - Barksdale Barbeque, Carnival, and Silent Auction”, 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.: It’s the first and best event of the year – don’t miss out!!
